Residual Gas Analysis

When operating a vacuum system, the total pressure is an essential parameter to monitor. When the system does not achieve it’s normal operating vacuum level, a tool to show specifically which gases are limiting the pump-down is required. Residual Gas Analyzers (RGA’s) give a breakdown of the total pressure into partial pressures for gasses like water vapor, air, solvents etc. This enables the appropriate corrective action to be taken to return the vacuum system to normal operation. If the RGA detects an air leak, it can be quickly switched into helium leak detect mode to pinpoint the position of the leak. RGA’s are very common on vacuum systems these days, often returning their investment cost in saved time and scrapped product in a matter of weeks or months.
