Rotary Vane Pumps - Pfeiffer Vacuum

Rotary vane pumps for all applications in the low and medium vacuum range

Rotary vane pumps have proven themselves for years in many applications. Coordinated accessories and the selection of ideal equipment make the Pfeiffer Vacuum rotary vane pumps usable for many processes.

The HenaLine, with its pumping speed of 25 to 1,920 m3/h, is suitable for a variety of applications in the low vacuum. The UnoLine Plus pumps are the best choice for processes where large amounts of condensable vapors are pumped. UnoLine and Pascal models are characterized by an extremely low ultimate pressure for single-stage pumps.

With 1.25 to 300 m3/h, the DuoLine covers a wide pumping speed range. Due to the magnetic coupling, these pumps are hermetically sealed. The Pascal series pumps are geared towards users who require a high pumping speed for low pressure ranges and an extremely low ultimate pressure. With their different styles, both series can be used for simple and demanding processes.

The functional principle of the rotary vane pumps
The pump principle of the rotary vane pumps is based on a continual, cyclical change in the suction volume. This is made possible through a rotor eccentrically aligned to the pump housing with movable vanes. The required sealing function is guaranteed through the oil.

The rotary vane pumps are offered in two configurations. Pumps with a single stage pump system (Pascal, HenaLine, UnoLine and UnoLine Plus) cover an inlet pressure range of 1,600 to approx. 0,5 hPa; those with a two stage serial pump system (DuoLine and Pascal) have an expanded inlet pressure range in high vacuum of up to 5*10-4 mbar.

Operating notes on the process adaption
Ideally, the pumps are operated in a process frame between 100 mbar and a pressure of about a decade above the final pressure. Above 100 mbar, the exhaust oil separator elements clog very quickly through the oily exhaust gas stream. In the final pressure range, the strong dependency of the pumping speed on the suction pressure comes to bear. In this state, no stationary process can be operated.

All models are able to feed a ballast gas, to prevent the accumulation of liquids due to condensing moisture. The use of a gas ballast affects the performance data of the pumps in various ways. For example, the pumping speed of single-stage rotary vane pumps will be reduced by the amount of the gas ballast proportion. This will also raise the final pressure. However, due to their design, gas ballast does not affect the pumping speed of two-stage pumps.
