Ultra-High Vacuum

Ultra High Vacuum

In science and technology ultra-high vacuum, short UHV, is essential in many experiments performed in basic research. The need for UHV is derived from the requirement of high purity, minimal particle interactions and the absence of other contamination. For these and many more requirements vacuum pressures p < 10-5 Pa (p < 10-7 mbar) are mandatory. With the need to reach these kinds of pressures a holistic approach is essential. The entire vacuum system, consisting of a chamber, pumps, gauges and leak detection, needs to be configured and planned in an appropriate way.
