A scroll vacuum pump is a positive displacement pump that generates vacuum without the need for oil or other operating fluids. This type of vacuum pump compresses gas by repeatedly trapping a fixed volume of the pumped medium and moving it through the system. The oil-free working principle of scroll vacuum pumps makes them ideal in environments where contamination must be avoided. They can be used for various industrial applications like vacuum degassing or mass spectrometry.

Ultra-low noise level
Scroll vacuum pumps are extremely quiet. They operate at less than 47 dB(A) (less than 42 dB(A) in stand-by mode) and are characterized by low vibration levels as well as minimal heat emission. These factors make scroll vacuum pumps ideal for use in sensitive environments, for example in laboratories or inside mass spectrometers and leak detection systems.

Oil-free operation
Scroll vacuum pumps operate completely oil-free, making them particularly attractive for applications requiring clean vacuum.

Low maintenance
HiScroll vacuum pumps from Pfeiffer are designed for low maintenance. The optional integrated pressure sensor automatically adjusts the speed of the pump to the desired vacuum level. This can reduce energy consumption and costs as well as wear, significantly extending maintenance intervals. Additionally, fewer moving parts and the non-contact operating principle reduce the risk of failure and wear.

Their interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous motor provides energy-efficient operation and generates less heat. As a result, the pump helps minimize heat emission inside integrated systems like leak detectors or mass spectrometers while at the same time reducing energy consumption by more than 50% compared to conventional scroll vacuum pumps.

Dry scroll vacuum pumps from Pfeiffer are designed to fulfill high safety standards. They are available with an ATEX certification (II 3 (internal) /- (external) G Ex h IIC T4 Gc X) to ensure that they are operationally reliable even when pumping explosive media. With this certification, they can also safely handle flammable gases like hydrogen inside the pump.

Additionally, the HiScroll features a built-in non-return valve at the outlet. In the event of a shutdown, it protects the HiScroll from the backflow of gases into the vacuum pump. This is crucial because it protects the generated vacuum in the evacuation chamber and avoids contamination of the customer process.

Explosionproof ATEX HiScroll

Due to their contactless operating principle, scroll vacuum pumps generally do not require a lot of maintenance. However, in every vacuum pump, certain components are exposed to mechanical stress. In scroll vacuum pumps, these wear parts are the tip seals, which help to seal the space between the two opposing scrolls. Although they are not critical for safety, it is recommended to replace them approximately every two and a half years to ensure maximum performance of your vacuum pump.
